Customer Reviews

(Since sellers are selling either Donkey Kong II or Donkey Kong, I may as well write reviews for both games)
DONKEY KONG:
Ah, Donkey Kong. What an arcade classic. Who didn't love to climb up those platforms and smash barrels with a hammer? And plus, players' minds spread with curiosity as they wonder what new levels they can encounter and what high scores they could get.
The Game ; Watch version of Donkey Kong didn't have the hammer, nor did it have any more levels. But you what it did have? Everything else! It's cool how Nintendo can manage to copy their famous arcade game into an LCD double-screened game.
Now, your goal isn't to rescue Pauline DIRECTLY. Oh, no. Instead, you must jump up and snatch hooks, so that way Donkey Kong can fall to his doom, giving you extra points. You can also try and get a high score, as well.
So overall, this is a great Game ; Watch game. If you don't want to spend a lot for this game, then buy Game ; Watch Collection for the Nintendo DS, which contains this game and 3 other games! Onward to Donkey Kong II..
DONKEY KONG II:
Unlike the first game, Donkey Kong II DID NOT come from an existing game. Sure, it looks like it is a Game ; Watch version of Donkey Kong Jr, but that game already had its own Game ; Watch version (Which is on Game ; Watch Gallery 4 and DSi Shop). This is an all-new Game ; Watch game STARRING the character, Donkey Kong Jr.
Although this is supposed to be a different game, the goal is the same as in Donkey Kong Jr. You must rescue Donkey Kong, who is trapped, from Mario.
In this game, however, after you unlock one of DK's locks, another key appears back at the bottom screen. That way, you must go back and retrieve the key, go up, and unlock another one of his locks. It actually makes a fun and addicting experience when you play this game yourself.
This game also has the fun platforming that the first Donkey Kong game was best known for, but for some reason, I just like this game better. I don't know why. Maybe it's because this game isn't as easy to purchase..it isn't available on any Game ; Watch collections other than G;W Gallery 3, but in that collection, the screens are smushed in the Game Boy's screen, so that kind of ruins it.
But overall, it's a very fun game. That covers up the two Game ; Watch games.
If you were to struggle about which of these two to buy, I'd say that you should pick Donkey Kong II. Remember, this original Game ; Watch version is the only version you can find with its fun two-screened gameplay unedited.

I had one of these when I was about 13, and it was the coolest thing around at that time. I had three of them altogether as a kid, and all of them were stolen, so I bought one from E-Bay two months ago. I love the one I bought on E-Bay, but became sick and had to sell it to pay bills. This is the most awesome and fun retro video game you could ever hope for. It is portable, has two levels and is even practical, i.e. keeps time. When the alarm goes off, Donkey Kong Jr. comes out and rings a bell! This is not a product for the average modern game freak, there are no special effects, there is no blood or gore and it is not 3 D or in surround sound, heck, it doesn't even have an earphone jack! If you love old stuff that is simple, to the point and will keep you occupied for hours on end, trying to figure out how such a small thing can keep kicking your butt, this is for you.
